COACHING

Life & Leadership Coach.

Coaching is not about giving advice, it is a creative thought-provoking partnership between the Coach and the Client that inspires the client to maximise their potential and performance.

Leadership can be defined simply as a set of behaviours (skills) and interactions where influence occurs. Depending on the level of skills and quality of the interaction, the influence on others can be perceived as positive or negative and therefore, the impact of influence can be either high, low or somewhere in between.

A leader, therefore, can be defined as an individual in the interaction who consciously or unconsciously creates a greater influence on the other person(s).

What is leadership coaching?

Leadership coaching has many definitions, but essentially it is a highly personalised process designed to support professionals in enhancing their leadership skills and effectiveness.

Coaching’s personalised nature makes it constantly applicable, allowing clients to tackle real-time challenges during coaching sessions and then swiftly apply the lessons learnt in the real world for immediate impact.

Unlike other personal development methods, leadership coaching can create sustainable learning and lasting behavioural change which empowers clients to break unconscious habits and consciously create new ones.

Leadership coaching may assist clients by improving their leadership competencies; increasing motivation and performance; developing self-confidence; improving overall wellbeing; and avoiding burnout.

Pivotal to leadership development it the ability to develop skills to manage and nurture teams and individuals to develop their own leadership and development skills. Developing insight into building psychological safety, growth mindset and giving critical feedback are essential for this process and can be developed through coaching.

The coaching partnership enables clients to establish focused objectives and goals and enhances the self-awareness of individuals. Leading to increased emotional intelligence, better communication skills, greater influence over managers and teams, and more conscious decision-making abilities.

Most importantly, it provides the client with the opportunity to take full control and direction of their professional career and their own personal development path.

LEADERSHIP
COACHING

A great way to gain insight into areas for development is through 360 feedback. This process is a fantastic way for individuals, leaders and managers to get a different perspective on how they are performing, as well as their strengths and development areas.

The 360-feedback process typically involves asking several colleagues who know you well (through direct reports, peers, line manager and other senior stakeholders), to give feedback on a leader’s strengths and development areas. It can be captured using various online tools or through some short calls between the stakeholders and the coach.

This process is all part of developing a client’s self-awareness, particularly their awareness of how others see them, which then shapes how they see themselves.

MY COACHING STEPS

TYPICALLY ARE

STEP ONE

A free introductory meeting allowing you (the client) and me (the coach) to get to know each other. I explain how the coaching process works and we discuss your objectives and what you would like to achieve.

STEP TWO

The option of a three-way meeting: If the coaching you receive is paid for by your employer, a meeting can be held with you and your sponsor to confirm the shared objectives.

STEP THREE

We begin the coaching with the Energy Leadershipâ„¢ Index assessment. The ELI is a question-based attitudinal assessment tool. I then deliver the results of your ELI assessment during a dedicated 90 minute debrief.

STEP FOUR

The coaching sessions begin: By creating a safe and confidential space we will then develop clarity around your goals and work together to best achieve them.
